Sun, 6 December 2009 ![]() Kologbo feat. The Deacon - Freedom Back (Exclusive MP3 download on ParisDJs.com) Kraked, 2009-12-06 Some of you discovered Kologbo on stage at the Afrofunk party we organized last summer with Ebo Taylor & The Poets Of Rhythm. Some others already knew he was the tenor guitar player from Fela Kuti's Afrika 70 and he now plays on stage with Tony Allen. Some of you might even have heard the Remember Fela Anikulapo Kuti album he released in 2007 with Berlin's heaviest afrobeat ensemble Afrobeat Academy... Well he's now preparing a new album called Africa is the Future, produced by Loik Dury and to be relased early 2010!! Here's a preview, with Freedom Back featuring The Deacon (from The Duke & The King) on guest vocals, a real phat vintage slice of Afrofunk! Tracklisting : 01. Kologbo feat. Sun, 2 August 2009 ![]() Antibalas and Doctor L - Family Affair (Exclusive MP3 download on ParisDJs.com) Mind Service, 2009-08-02 Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra had some spare time during their last 2006 french tour... They jumped in Doctor L's studio on a lazy sunday afternoon, and cooked with him a killer afrobeat version of Sly Stone's classic Family Affair! At the end of the day, this future classic was done and everything's in there: Fela-inspired vocals from the all-mighty Amayo, phat afro-broken beat, sweat horns and chorus vocals and the magic Doctor's touch on the production... A Strictly limited 45 was released on the Mind Service label, quickly selling out. Comes summer 2009, Martin Perna and Amayo visiting us in Paris, recording new tracks with either Grant Phabao or Doctor L, partying all together with Curumin... and a brand new mix of this famous Sly Stone cover cooked by Doctor L especially for Paris DJs! Martin Perna, Antibalas' leader, will be back in those pages quite soon with an exclusive mix of unreleased rarities from Antibalas and from his Afro-Latin project Ocote Soul Sounds and Adrian Quesada (who just released a third fantastic album, get it asap!)...
